“Villanova Law students pursue a sophisticated
curriculum offered by deeply engaged teachers.
Overarching all of this, is a vision of practice in which
outstanding lawyers couple their commitment to
professional excellence with self-reflection, service
to others and an understanding of the dignity of the
human person.”
School of
law
A Villanova Law degree enables students to take
their places among the elite of the profession —
in government, public interest work, private
practice or business. Students are fully prepared
to meet the pressing challenges of a world that is
increasingly complex and demanding and more
in need of outstanding lawyers than ever before.
That world needs lawyers who possess not only
a deep understanding of legal doctrine and the
role of law in society, and excellent analytical and
technical skills, but, as important, a strong moral
compass and a commitment to law as a public
service profession.
The curriculum builds from a solid foundation
of general legal education to a broad range
of sophisticated specialty offerings that equip
students for whatever area of practice they
choose. The faculty is made up of outstanding
scholars deeply engaged in teaching, research
and policy work, readily accessible to students
and fully committed to the critical mentoring
that must be part of a professional school. The
students not only learn the law, but also put it
to use representing indigent clients in clinics
and through pro bono programs.
Villanova lawyers take leadership positions
in prestigious law firms, including large
multinationals and elite boutique and specialty
firms. They have created and led some of the
finest public interest organizations in the country.
They practice in U.S. Attorney’s offices, in
District Attorney’s offices, as public defenders,
in federal agencies, as judges, in corporate
general counsel offices and as solo practitioners
both in Pennsylvania and around the country.
On November 19, 2007, mummers, a fife and
drum corps, the Villanova Wildcat and a parade
of faculty, students, staff, alumni and University
dignitaries celebrated the ceremonial
groundbreaking for the new Law School building.
The Law School is on schedule to open in
August 2009.
