; September 20: More than 2,000 Villanovans
participate in the 2008 St. Thomas of
Villanova Celebration “Day of Service”
by volunteering throughout Greater
Philadelphia and around the country.
; September 22–23: “Mendel in the 21st
Century: The Scientific, Social and Ethical
Impact of Genetics in Our World,” a two-day
interdisciplinary symposium centered
around Gregor Mendel, an Augustinian
friar, naturalist and botanist now known as
the Father of Modern Genetics.
; September 23: Villanova Theatre opens its
50th anniversary season with Eugene
O’Neill’s Long Day’s Journey into Night.
