with a three-day conference.
; April 22–25: Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. delivers
the keynote address at Villanova’s
International SustainAbility Conference.
With attendees from five continents,
the conference sparks interdisciplinary
conversations about the scientific,
humanistic, political, economic and
ecological challenges and opportunities
of sustainability.
; April 30: The Bartley Hall Atrium is
dedicated The LoBiondo Atrium in recognition of a $1 million dollar gift from Elizabeth
’80 and Leonard LoBiondo ’80 to support
strategic initiatives at the Villanova School
of Business.
; The College of Engineering marks the fifth
anniversary of VESTED, a high school
outreach program that enables students
who have not been exposed to engineering
education to conduct exciting labs and experiments, get advice from professionals in the
field and learn about college preparation.
; May 2: The men’s lacrosse team defeats
Towson, 10-9, to win the Colonial Athletic
Association championships and earn the
program’s first trip to the NCAA
Tournament.
; May 22: The Lore Kephart ’86 Distinguished
Historians Lecture is established in memory
of Lore Kephart ’86 through an endowment
of $250,000 to the University by her husband,
Horace L. Kephart.
; As part of a one-of-a-kind Vatican internship program, made possible by a gift from
Lawrence M. Waterhouse, Jr. ’59 and the
Waterhouse family, Villanova students
produce a virtual reality tour of the Basilica
of St. Paul Outside-the-Walls.
; Villanova students are recognized
nationally with two Fulbright U.S. Student
Program Grants; a Morris K. Udall
Undergraduate Scholarship; a Science,
Mathematics And Research for
Transformation (SMART) Scholarship from
the Department of Defense; and a Critical
Language Scholarship.
